Home Works is an exhibition by Betty Nolan focussed around her home in Montagu Bay on the River Derwent’s Eastern shore. Mostly carried out in 2020, the works use the views from windows or the garden as their way of responding to the extraordinary year we have left behind. The ability of the landscape to heal and nurture people with its simplicity and beauty is expressed through the use of jewel like colours and rich surfaces. Simple abstract form derived from landscape elements is present. The fog from the river appears again. Abstract relationships are used as metaphors for the relationships between people.
