Kathy George

is a Tasmanian jeweller who works in the arcane medium of enamel. Using powdered glass fused to metal, her works are like tiny paintings with rich vivid colour spread over the surface of copper shapes. With cloissone mullions used to separate hues Kathy adds texture from fine silver wires. Elegant additions are gemstones such as lapis lazuli and small lava stone beads that add weight to her bracelets and necklets.

With its fluid glossy surfaces enamel is a perfect medium to express nature  and typical themes Kathy George develops are Bay Of Fires, Ginkgo and Autumn. Beautifully crafted, each piece is enamelled on both sides, making a highly wearable  and durable special object.
