Ferny Haven

Flame-worked and kiln-fired glass, glass paints, airdry clay, plaster bandage, acrylic paint, found dome and base, cold assembled

Sculpture contains six examples of Tasmanian fungi plus lichen, moss, ferns and a slime mould and was inspired by the amazing photographs published on the Tasmanian Fungi Facebook page. Fungi hunters have sometimes heated ongoing debates about the identification of fungi – I believe that this sculpture contains Laccaria species, Chlorovibrissea species, Red Marasmius, Hygrocybe chromolimonea and the turquoise discs of Chlorociboria aeruginascens but I am happy to be corrected.
