Salamanca’s sandstone warehouses were once used for whaling and jam making. These days the Salamanca Arts Centre, seven connected warehouses, is owned by the Tasmanian people and is a wonderful place to see the visual and performing arts in progress. The entrance to Nolan Gallery and Nolan School of Art is adjacent to the historic Long Gallery, on the first floor of 77 Salamanca Place.
