Australian Wood Boat Festival events
Nolan Art is contributing stimulating art events to the Australian Wood Boat Festival’s exciting 2027 program. These including a themed exhibition and adult life drawing workshops. The brochure on these is available here.
Keith Lane’s Exhibition: AFLOAT: A Romantic Vision
Keith Lane is a renowned Tasmanian oil painter whose English childhood was spent mucking around in boats on the River Thames. For the Australian Wood Boat Festival, Keith has prepared a collection of paintings, featuring notable ships, splendid coasts and the life afloat.
The exhibition will be in Nolan Art’s Salamanca Art Centre gallery, and opens from 600 pm on Wednesday February 3. It will feature an opening speech by Paul Stephanus, the Australian Wooden Boat Festival’s CEO.

Adult life drawing workshops
Join our experienced lead tutor, Josh Lamb and the rest of the Nolan Art team for a life drawing workshop in the Salamanca Art Centre’s Founders Room, focused on mermaids, pirates, sailing and all things nautical. These are light-hearted and joyous events with a highly entertaining tutor and experienced life models: tops off and tails on. Dressing in pirate costume is encouraged, and prizes will be awarded for the best outfits and most charming drawing.
Two workshops are available:
- The evening workshop on Friday February 5 will be a rollicking event with grazing tables and drinks available at the bar.
- The more sedate afternoon workshop on Sunday, February 7 will focus on the drawing with afternoon tea and snacks provided.
You can book for these below. Simply select the Workshops tab and Special Event Workshops from the Category drop-down menu.
