Washing Away The Dust

This is Sarah L Stewart’s fifth solo exhibition with Nolan Gallery. A subtle abstractionist, the artist tells her elegant visual narratives using block colour and drawn line while generally avoiding the pictorial. Previous shows have followed Sarah through relationships, a move to another island and a move back. This time she avoids reference to physical space and instead mines memory to make very personal meaning. Always a clever wordsmith, the artist tells her own tale of foundations, frustrations and resolution inviting the viewer to unpick the threads and add their own story.
