Shifting Sands

Now living within a 5 minute walk of one of Tasmania’s wonderful beaches (Button’s Beach, Ulverstone), we walk there almost daily. One knows that the tides move sand and deposits debris so beaches are always changing but this became so much more evident with such frequent visits. It is particularly noticeable where Buttons Creek enters as the channel alters. This sense of movement of the sand was suggested by the judicious use of wet in wet watercolour adding  “Brusho” and salt to the still damp surface in the forground. The effects are somewhat serendipitous and exciting…. never quite knowing exactly what will appear in much the same way as we ponder what will be reavealed at each new walk.
