There are so many metaphors for talking about older women’s bodies. I have always thought the overblown rose was up there with mutton dressed as lamb and old cow. Blanche Dubois in Street Car Named Desire came to mind but after seeing The Beusty Disney serie where isabella Rossellini refuses to ameliorate her large aging body I have a new hero. She also wears an outstanding rose hat.
