Sarah Louise Stewart
is a contemporary Tasmanian painter using processes of layering, reduction and erasure to make her abstract works. Expressing the built environment as well as Nature, the compositions describe paths followed and depths plumbed. Memory and sense of place are evoked through subtle surfaces applied in many ways, then hidden under new experience. Bold colours are linked with the subtle use of neutral greys, settling complementary blue greens and ochres into a satisfying partnership.
